Battle of Waterloo, Belgium

Battle of Waterloo - Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge led a charge of two brigades of British heavy cavalry (from left) in support of the hard-pressed infantry. The 1st Brigade, known as the Household Brigade, commanded by Major-General Lord Edward Somerset, consisted of guards regiments: the 1st and 2nd Life Guards, the Royal Horse Guards (the Blues), and the 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards. The 2nd Brigade, also known as the Union Brigade, commanded by Major-General Sir William Ponsonby, was so called as it consisted of an English, the 1st (The Royals); a Scottish, 2nd ('Scots Greys'); and an Irish, 6th (Inniskilling); regiment of heavy dragoons. The charge dispersed Napoleona??s army on the right valley and hillside, Waterloo, Belgium

Portsmouth Naval Base, Britain 09.01.07. To the right are the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker Grey Rover (awaiting disposal); the Logistic Landing ships Sir Galahad (the Falklands replacement built in 1987) awaiting disposal; and the Logistic Landing Ship Sir Beldivere, which should still be in service. The stern at the bottom right of the pic is the Logistics Landing ship Sir Tristram ( heavily damaged in the Falklands with the original Sir Galahad) again awaiting disposal. The LSLs have been replaced in service by the new Bay class
