Hill 60 Caterpillar Crater, Belgium

World War 1 - Hill 60, Zwarte-Leen, Belgium. The Caterpillar Crater. In 1917, diggers from the Australian Tunneling Company dug their way below the German lines and planted huge mines. Once blown, Infantry Men stormed the Hill and took it. The Caterpillar mine, along with the 17 others on the Messines front, were blown. The explosions at Hill 60 killed 687 soldiers of the German 204th Division and blew a crater 60 feet deep and 260 feet wide.

Battle of Waterloo, Belgium

Battle of Waterloo - Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge led a charge of two brigades of British heavy cavalry (from left) in support of the hard-pressed infantry. The 1st Brigade, known as the Household Brigade, commanded by Major-General Lord Edward Somerset, consisted of guards regiments: the 1st and 2nd Life Guards, the Royal Horse Guards (the Blues), and the 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards. The 2nd Brigade, also known as the Union Brigade, commanded by Major-General Sir William Ponsonby, was so called as it consisted of an English, the 1st (The Royals); a Scottish, 2nd ('Scots Greys'); and an Irish, 6th (Inniskilling); regiment of heavy dragoons. The charge dispersed Napoleona€™s army on the right valley and hillside, Waterloo, Belgium.
